So, I just got back from two nights and two days in Owen Sound. This has been the most exhausting photo marathon I've ever done, but it has definitely been worth it. Matt and I headed north around 5:00 pm on Sunday and met my parents at my Aunt and Uncle's house. (How convenient that they have a house on the water). And so, I was FINALLY able to shoot my pirate and mermaid photo that I've been planning all summer. I have to extend a thanks to the neighbours of Balmy Beach as well for putting up with my shenanigans and letting me use the perfect dock to shoot at.
I can't show enough gratitude to my family for helping me out so much with this photo shoot. Finding a boat for me, helping with lights and the smoke machine, guarding the equipment while it was surrounded by water. My parents stayed up far longer than they usually do and then drove an hour and a half home the same night. On top of that my Aunt MaryLynn and Uncle Bob were nice enough to let Matt and I spend two nights and two days with them while we shot more images. One of the best parts was my Great Uncle, Father Tom, being there for the big night shoot. He's always been so interested in my photographs. I'm pretty sure he's my biggest fan.
I can't believe how lucky I am to have so many amazing and supportive people in my life. Thank you all so much!
On a side note, another treasured memory was just before Matty and I started shooting the underwater photos. I was sitting at the end of the dock with my tail on and a woman was walking down the dock with a little girl. The girl asked me my name and stared intently at my green tail slowly swaying back and forth in the water. I said my name is Cassie and she told me her name is Charlotte. After a few moments Matt and I slipped into the water and the little girl laid down on her tummy at the end of the dock and watched me swim out into the water. I heard the woman ask Charlotte "Do you think she's a real mermaid?" When Charlotte replied with "Yea!" I just wanted to hug her. She is the reason that I shoot the photos that I do. I hope she always believes in mermaids. I know I always will.
